FAQs

Which chain size does Oinker fit?

Oinker for motorcycles is sold by chain size (428, 520/420, 525, and 530/630).

The bicycle version fits all standard bicycle chains.

The kart version comes in #35 and #219 sizes.

Why is spray going through the chain under the Oinker?

Attach Oinker to your aerosol can, position the center guide over the chain rollers, and rotate the wheel (or pedal). Sometimes a rag is needed under the Oinker on the floor if the lube is thin and under high pressure. Remember there are gaps in the chain.

A second option is to use the Oinker on the top of the back sprocket. Some users are against lubing in that location because the centrifugal force does not carry the lube through the chain. However, with a few extra rotations of the wheel the thin lube works its way around to both sides as the rollers rotate. Every 6 rotations of the chain equals one full rotation of the roller around the bushing. Rotating the wheel must be done right after applying the lube to distribute the lube while it is thin.

How do I apply chain lube without making a mess?

Attach Oinker to your aerosol can, position the center guide over the chain rollers, and rotate the wheel or pedal.

You can have the best anti-fling lube, but if you over-lube your chain, it will fling off. You only need one rotation of chain with the Oinker.

An essential part of lubing the chain is continuing to rotate the chain while the lube is solvent rich. Rotating the rollers will get the thin lube to seep under the rollers.

It takes 6 full rotations of the chain for the roller to rotate 360 degrees. Continue 6 rotations, as a minimum, immediately after lubing.

The straw housing won't come off

Most of the time, the housing pops right off, but if it doesn’t, cut along the back and underneath for the easiest removal.

won't latch around the can

In some cases, the lever may need to be over-flexed to latch. This can happen if:

  • The valve is slightly larger than standard cans.
  • Bullet-style cans are pressed too close to the valve, creating a tight fit.

Wrap a rubber band around the lever to pull it tight, but don’t latch it. This helps hold the Oinker in place without excessive force.

If you need rubber bands, contact us, and we’ll send some for free. You can also use any household rubber band.
